I called my comp. engineer to fix that but they said that i will have replace it by new hdd. I ordered a 80 gb hdd(Rs.2,200) and 256 ddr ram.(Rs.1,300). My current pc config is: 256mb ddr ram, no hdd(40gb hdd crashed), pentium 4 processor,1.90 ghz/400mhz, no graphic card and intel 845 chipset. As per previous replies there is still hope for data retrival but through another pc. No this drive is of no use.

Now kindly explain this:

1. Slave drive
2. 1.90 ghz/400mhz

Is the cost of the hdd and ram reasonable?

How do i know that my computer is capable of furthur upgradation?

Which graphic card should i install in the pc?

Give me advises on upgrading the pc.

Thnx for the replies.

Slave drivers:
Hmm, see when you boot ur PC, the PC looks into the HDD and looks for active drive then boot loader and finally windows to boot.
Boot --> 1HDD-->Boot file in hdd --> Loads windows.

Now when you have 2 HDD the PC becomes confused where to look for windows, so you might have to assign the pc that your bootable HDD is Primary or master and the other one is slave drive.

Yes I think the HDD cost is little more ... may b by Rs200/-. I hav to ask someone about the ram.

No point in putting a graphic card on your PC... its a bit old, even a good gfx card on ur pc would allow you to play old games. New games need too much.
Its recommended that you invest on such things only after you have upgraded your CPU and Mobotherboard.

Sidd.. as u said that my comp. is old to support graphic card and i can play old games but will it support 512 ddr ram. Thnx for the info on slave drive and cost. This means that the slave drive can only be used to extract data. Can i delete all the data which is stored in it(for safety purpose)? To get the all datas from crashed hdd what all things should be done? Kindly explain the process. I think now there is no use of putting back the crashed hdd in cpu.

It depends upon how yo HDD is crashed !!

If you cannot even read it then there is no use, if it can be detected by ur system then you can atmost try some data recovery tools and see if you can recover some. But usually ppl are not lucky and the data is locked inside the damaged HDD sad.gif

You can beef up you ram depending upon the slots and availability of DDR rams etc.

NEW PROBLEM!: After losing my 40 gb hdd, i installed 80 gb hdd and 512 ram. New windows installed win-xp-pro sp2. Now when i start my pc a black screen comes, which displays this error-" Operating System not found!". When i press ctrl+alt+del, the pc restarts and then window screen and booting process takes place. Why this error is coming? How to fix this error?

My comp. engineer changed a battery near motherboard still nothing happened. He is suspecting that there might be problem with the wire which connects hdd and motherboard.

How do i get info on my motherboard? For example My Hdd is of sequet company(not exact spelling) with 5 yrs warranty, 7400 rpm , 80 gb etc.

Last hope, I want to extract few datas from slave drive how do i connect it to my pc??

How to pull those wires behind the cd-rom?? I tried but it did not come out.. Help!!
