DC++ is now working in whole new IP ranges, it has now become difficult to use Internet as well as DC++ together and oftern you have to do the switch for IPs to toggle between Internet and DC++ .

Here is a simple solution for you to use both Internet as well as SIFY at the same time. Please follow this simple tutorial and I am sure you will be able to get it working. The tutorial is writen to the basic to make even the noobest to understand.

========== PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ===============

STEP 1 .

1st we need to bind alias IP with your computer, in simpler words meaning assigning more than one IP to your PC. The steps are really simple to make it even easier I am posting some pics.

Alias IP is the additional IP that you are gona assigne to your PC. Here it refers to DC++ IP.

In the Pic above I have just mentioned the steps how to reach the Advance IP config dialogbox. Keep the config in this window to access Internet. For mean while lets forget DC++ .

STEP 2 .

Select Internet Protocols >> Properties >> Advance
Once you click on advance and get to the advance, you will see the following window.

Very simple all you have to do is just add the alias IP or DC++ IP (which would be mentioned below & not from pic) by clicking on Add. Leave the Gateways as default. Click OK and close all the windows.

STEP 3

Once you added you alias IP or DC++ IP all you have to do is run the appropriate batch file. There are set of batch files you can download below.

RUN the appropriate batch file according to your IP range.
For example if your alias IP or DC++ IP is 10.11.4.204 then run this batch file " ROUTE_10.11.4.1 "

Once done your DC++ will start working, note if your not able to connect to any HUB make sure the HUB is online.

ALSO the effect of this magic tongue.gif will last till u reboot, so after every reboot you will have to run the batchfile. This is only for Window XP users, as for Windows Vista users u only need to run it once, the effect will stand after reboots also.

IF YOUR WISH TO CHANGE IP RANGES

O am afraid its not simple but you will have to reboot your system at the end.

- Go to run and type the following command

route -f

- now reboot your PC and then change your IP range and use the appropriate route batch file as mentioned above.

Heyy man i found the problem. I had the xp firewall enabled. After disabling it dc works fine as well as internet. Is it entirely necessary that firewall should be off for dc to work? Is there any alternative so that dc works even if firewall is on.

yes u can access the lan bychanging the firewall setting.
do following.
1.start---->control panal---->network connection.
2.on left panal u can find change firewall settings click on that.
3.click on exceptions which is on top of pop up.
4.if dc is present park it else click on add program... button. and add the prog.
5.then in general tab disselect the 'Don't allow acceptions' .
6. apply-->ok.
then run dc & try to connect i think it will work
